The Urban League is dedicated to economic empowerment in order to elevate the standard of living in historically underserved urban communities. Founded in 1910 and headquartered in New York City, the Urban League spearheads efforts through its local affiliates' development of programs, public policy research and advocacy. Today, there are more than 100 Urban Leagues in 36 states and the District of Columbia serving 2+ million people.

Darnell Willaims, CEO Urban League of Eastern MA and former president of the Springfield NAACP has a strong history of service in advocacy on behalf of people of color.

Marc Morial, CEO National Urban League and former mayor of New Orleans, Louisiana is a lawyer with a fierce drive and passion to deliver equity in civil liberties for all people.

Boston Residents Attending the Convention
Urban League convention attendees were of all ages and localities. Above these young men from Boston and Cambridge attend because they are inspired by the Jobs Rebuild America focus. They came to explore opportunities for college and jobs. Also while here they saw
the World Trade and Convention Centers live for the first time.
Above: The Urban League Expo Hall was a magnificent sampling of corporate, academic, human services and small business America reaching out to multi-ethnic populations in difficult to access communities. Through the Urban League Expo Hall Events venue, vendors of all sizes from across the country provided useful, fun, informative and free activities for conference attendees. While all vendors showcased products and services, many not only gave samples - they provided unprecedented services such as free eye exams, free DNA testing and gifts of shopping certificates, technology and more.

Eworkstyle sampled the venues and talked to conference visitors from across the country. So many peole related stories and insights that are important for success and inspiration that we've decided to showcase the work going on in Economy Work & Style or Eworkstyle as a separate series.

Above: Acuvue provided free blood pressure, pulse and eye exams which included vision and glaucoma testing and retina scanning for hundreds of conventioners every day of the event.
